Kali - Senior '10

This beautiful senior came in for her senior portraits with Sean on Sunday.  Kali is a senior from Oak Ridge.  She was such a natural in front of the camera and Sean captured some great images of her at some great outdoor locations and with a very fiesty prop - her calf!  Here's a few from her session.  The rest will be on our gallery by the end of the week!

NEW: Senior of the Month

This year, we're bringing you a little something different on our blog and Facebook. We'll be announcing a senior of the month. We'll be spotlighting one senior a month as long as we have multiple seniors each month. The senior we choose will receive a couple photos to put on their social networking sites (with just a small logo) via email and we'll pick our favorite photo of the senior to spotlight here and on Facebook with answers to some questions about the senior. It'll be a fun way to get personal with our seniors and share some of the insight we gain to create the fun, unique images of our seniors.

Tyler - Senior '10

Our first senior of the season came in today. Tyler's from Perryville and he brought his 4-wheeler, rifle, and bow for some great outdoor photos. I had a blast hanging out with Tyler this afternoon and luckily the rain held off for us. Here are a few of his images from today. We'll have all of his images on our gallery within a week.

The Wilson Family

We spent Saturday with the Wilson family celebrating their daughter's high school graduation. It was great getting to see everyone again so quickly after Mike and Tara's wedding in June. It was a fun-filled day of great food and drinks, sand volleyball, swimming, and one of the biggest firework's displays I've seen. Thanks for letting us be a part of this!

LeeAnna and Dillon were married at the Castor River Park on June 27...which was a typical, hot, muggy Southeast Missouri day. We got some beautiful images of this great couple. Here's a sample while we finish processing the rest of the photos.

Savannah

Our niece Savannah and daughter Sheryl just spent the week with Kathy's mom, Harriet, and sister, Brenda exploring the New England and east coast states. It was a great adventure for all of them. Brenda had Savannah get her photos done when they got back to be entered in the Miller's Baby and Children's Portrait Contest, which officially closes submissions tonight at midnight. Here are a few from Savannah's session today.

Amber and Chris came in today for some bride and groom images. They were married Saturday at Old McKendree Church in Jackson. We did some great posed images of them at Old McKendree in the sweltering heat today. What a great couple though! Here a few images from today. The rest will be up in the gallery soon.

Stegall - Wilson Wedding

Tara and Michael were married at Troy Park in Troy, Illinois on Saturday, June 13. We had the pleasure of meeting both of these at Tara's cousin Christine's wedding on 7-7-07. We were looking forward to spending time with this wonderful family and meeting Michael's family as well. This wedding was a blast to be a part of. We have tons of photos to filter through but here's a glimpse of a few images from their day.

Baby & Children's Portrait Contest

This year, Magee Images is taking part in the Miller's Baby and Children's Portrait Contest. The last date for submissions is June 21, 2009. There is no charge to have a photo from your session submitted to the contest. Just shoot us an email with the image number you would like us to submit. Here are the requirements:

The child must be under the age of 12.

The portrait must have been taken by Magee Images in 2009.

There are 4 categories: Color, Black and White, Special Needs, and Humorous.

Only one photo can be submitted from each photography session.

If you haven't had your child's portraits done by Magee Images in 2009, give us a call to schedule your session before June 20 (so we have time to submit an image). The session requires our standard booking fee of $35 (to be applied toward your prints).

Top prize for this contest is $5,000!!! Honorable mentions get $500! That's a pretty nice chunk of change. There are tons of entries every year and this is the first time we've participated, but we've been surprised in the past by images that won and images that didn't, so there is always a chance.

Father's Day

As many of you know, my husband Sean is the photographer for our little photography studio and taking photos is something he has always loved to do. But above even this, he is a husband and a dad. We've been through a lot in our 5 years of marriage including the loss of his son Brandon to liver cancer in 2005 at the age of 3 and the birth of our daughter in 2005, 11 weeks prematurely. Sean has shown unbelievable strength and courage throughout the years, and he is a great leader for our family. And it's rare for Sean to be the one in front of the camera, so I find it only fitting as I announce the 2009 Father's Day Special to show a glimpse of Sean holding our daughter just a few days after she arrived home from the hospital, a month before her due date.

Our 2009 Father's Day Special is a Family Lifestyle Portrait session. Many families have something special that they do as a family...whether it's playing backyard baseball, going to the park, or riding horses. Whatever it may be, we will photograph you and your family in a setting familiar to you to create cherished memories of your time together, something that celebrates your life together as a family!

Simply call Sean at 573-837-5986 between June 3 and June 27 to schedule your Family Lifestyle Portrait session. If it's a Father's Day gift to your dad or husband, let us know and we'll create a custom gift certificate to present to the man in your life. If it's just an excuse to get a great family photo, that's okay too (and if you want the certificate we will create one for you too).

The session is typically 1 to 2 hours, depending on the size of the family and this is an on-location shoot (within a 30 minute drive from our studio) and will include 1 - 11x14 wall portrait, 2 - 5x7s, and 16 - wallets for $70. This is a $15 savings on our regular portrait packages and is only available for new sessions between June 3 and June 27.

The Hume Family

The Humes came to me for the first time for photos back in the fall of 2007. I can't believe it's been a year and half since I met this wonderful family! Just looking at those old photos makes me smile...and I love their new ones from Sunday at Scivally Park in Cape. Here's a little glimpse into this fun session with the family of 7, including one really big dog!

It's fun watching an entire family grow and change. These families are one of the wonderful reasons I became a photographer!

Little Helper Cuties

What a great Easter portrait party we had at Little Helpers in Cape this weekend. We met some fabulous moms and adorable babies and children. We're definitely planning on hosting a few more limited sessions throughout the year in conjunction with Little Helpers. Here's just a few of the images we captured this weekend.

2009 Models Needed!

As many of you have noticed, we are in the process of updating our website and marketing materials, but we need some new models! In order to be a model you must have fun, funky, or unique clothes, hats, scarves, or anything else cool and funky that you can think of! We want to create personality filled images and let Sean's creativity flow! We need fresh faces and fun personalities. For being such a good sport you will receive a free 8x10 of your choice from the session.

We need:

Girl, newborn to age 2

Boy, age 3 to 6

Boy and Girl, age 7 to 10

Boy and Girl, age 11 to 13

Girl, age 14 to 16

High school senior models from Cape, Perry, Scott, and Bollinger Counties to try out some new poses, props, and locations! Again, we’re looking for those who have fun, funky, and unique clothes, hats, etc. and a FUN personality! We’re looking for people with great smiles and beautiful eyes!

Tu-Tu Cuties & 7th Inning Stretch Specials

We've put together a couple of specials for spring and summer. The spring special for girls, newborn to 13, is Tu-Tu Cuties...a great, high fun session for the little girls in your life! This special package and price is available March 20 through April 30. The summer special is 7th Inning Stretch...a baseball themed portrait session available both in-studio and on-location. Sean's teaching a digital photography class...

This spring, Sean will be teaching a class in Southeast's Continuing Education Program. The class is a beginner's digital photography and Photoshop class. The theme is pet photography and is geared toward those wanting to learn to take good digital photos of their pets. Below is the flyer for the class. Magee Images Anniversary Update

Wow, I have been far behind in posting to our blog! We're putting together some new and exciting promotions this year and will be posting them first to our blog over the next couple of weeks! We're really excited about some new props and session ideas for portraits.

We've added some new pages to our website, so there are still a couple of links under construction. We're also in the process of adding more photos to view from our website pages and more information about ALL the stuff we do here!

As our anniversary date of opening on April 1st nears, we like to reflect back over the past year. We have had some fabulous new clients come into our lives and we are so happy that they have joined our "family." We have also had many more clients continue to use us for all their portrait needs! We can't thank each and every one of you enough for your loyalty to our business!

We love engagement sessions! Spending time with a couple, capturing the chemistry between them without distractions makes for amazing pictures. Our brides and grooms love the concept of an engagement session and we want to offer it to some "old" married couples. Sean and I have been married for 5 years and we didn’t have the opportunity for a fun filled session all about capturing our love. And, now that love has grown and blossomed into something much more, we want to offer that to all couples.

Our Renew Special is a fun, relaxed session that may even reignite some old flames and will provide you with wonderful memories to share with family and friends! Surprise your spouse with a romantic evening, starting, including, or ending with a fun and romantic photography session. Though to truly capture your spirit and the essence of your love, we prefer on-location shoots in places that are meaningful to you (for example: your favorite restaurant, the bowling alley, the riverfront), but in-studio sessions are available as well.

The Renew Special is available now until February 7th. The cost is only $50 and includes one 8x10, two 5x7s and 16 wallets.

Be Sexy…

Be daring this Valentine’s Day and surprise your sweetheart with the Sexy Book! Boudoir portraits are all the rage right now! And our new Sexy Book makes a perfect gift. We will be using our classic white backdrop and our beautiful baby blue Victorian settee. Absolutely no nudes, just classic, sexy pinup glamour portraits…wear your favorite lingerie, wrap up in one of his dress shirts and a tie, slip on your favorite dress with fishnets and stilettos, and just feel sexy! We schedule the sessions with plenty of time to relax and get used to the camera. It doesn’t hurt to have a glass of wine before we get started if you’d like and we highly suggest having a friend who makes you feel comfortable and confident there with you! Your images will be placed online in a secure password protected gallery, then we use your favorite images to create your Sexy Book. It is a 5x5 square hard cover book with a custom designed cover featuring 15-30 of your favorite images.

The Be Sexy Special is available now until February 1st. The cost? Only $125 which includes your session (expect 1 ½ to 3 hours depending on your confidence level and “spunk” during your session), the book design fee, and your 5x5 Sexy Book.

Orders for Renew or Be Sexy are due by February 7th to guarantee to be in the studio ready to be picked up between February 11th and 13th (we’ll be out of the studio on the 14th for a wedding).

Get Married…

Spring in Southeast Missouri is one of the most beautiful times to get married. We are usually swamped in the spring months with weddings…some last minute, some planned for over a year. But this year, we aren’t. If you don’t think you can afford a professional photographer at your wedding, let us prove you wrong. We are offering a special package for March and April before our peak wedding season starts!

$500.00 (tax is included) for 3 hours of photography time and includes one 8x10, two 5x7s, and 25 4x6s of your wedding day images. Additional photography time for March and April is only $100 per hour and receive a $25 print credit for each hour of additional time!!! To book your wedding for March, you’ll have three payments of $166.67 and for April, it’s four payments of $125.00! Your first payment is due at booking.
